Modelo : Classic Cord

Diagnostic Characteristics:
The Classic Cord is one of the signature CIPSA castings. It has been found in four colors, all with white interiors. Several examples with white roofs are believed to original roofs.
Only a few of the known Classic Cords are in excellent condition, most are beaters. Due to its popularity, there have been incidents of undisclosed repair to some pieces.
Due to the poor assembly methods, the hoods and motors are often missing. White roofs and blue windshields are being reproduced so collectors should be wary of purportedly complete examples.
All CIPSA Classic Cords are made with US bases, dated 1970.

Comments:
The Classic Cord was the first CIPSA car to draw the attention of the collecting community. The now classic CIPSA color of mustard yellow enamel paint and white interior presented quite a
conundrum to the collecting community. The Cord first example of the Classic Cord appeared at the Hot Wheels Convention in 2001. A well known collector had found it at a swap meet in San Diego.
He did not know what to make of it, and so was showing around to get opinions. Many experienced collectors inspected it closely and could find no evidence of tampering, however, no one had
an explanation. Not until 2004 did the story unfold.
